Accelerated Transfer of Expertise System

For decades, employers have turned to Proactive Technologies, Inc.® and its PROTECH©®system of managed human resource development™ to structure their normally unstructured, informal, undocumented, random and questionably effective approach to worker development. An educational partner is not necessary to set-up and implement this worker development system for manufacturing clients, or any industry client for that matter. However, this approach ensures that when the client is ready to partner with an external related technical instruction provider to enhance its internal training program, they can be assured that all available external resources are job-relevant and applied in an accurate and efficient manner. Since 1995, Proactive Technologies has partnered with employer-designated career centers, community colleges, technical colleges, universities, as well as workforce and economic development agencies when they clearly understand that the employer’s internal, structured on-the-job training efforts are vital to successful external worker development efforts.

The PROCESS: Proactive Technologies’ technical consultants job/task analyze each task of the targeted job classifications for “best practice” performance by observing the client’s existing subject matter experts – integrating any available process documents and specifications into the data set to link compliance. Safety requirements are included to bring safety information to where it applies rather than leave it as a general concept. Most importantly, the analysis captures the expertise and tribal knowledge of existing expert workers before they retire and/or leave with all of this wealth, converting it into tools to quickly develop additional experts and retain/grow this company asset. With the aid of the PROTECH©® software to support PTI’s data gathering and processing, job classifications can be completely analyzed – with the structured on-the-job training set-up – in as little as two weeks, at the client’s request.

Structured on-the-job training materials are created to match the employer’s job requirements in a “rapid response” design with legal defensibility and ISO/IATF/AS/Nadcap quality program and OSHA compliance in mind. The PROTECH©® software system automatically generates immediately-usable documents for each step of the human resource development process, which dramatically expands the project scope benefits without increasing the original project investment. These include:

  • Hiring and Management Materials: Job Descriptions, Job Profile Analysis, Job/Employee-Specific Performance Appraisal;
  • Pre and Post-Hire Job-Specific Assessments;
  • On-the-Job Training Outlines and Plans;

Clients are not required to license the PROTECH software, but licensing the software with the client’s data installed and staff training to take over the project management remains an option if and when the client feels they are ready.

Proactive Technologies sets-up the structured on-the-job training, manages its implementation (so businesses can focus on business), maintains and revises the data when it changes and provides monthly reporting with easy-to-read charts so management can track each worker’s progress toward full job mastery of the job they are assigned AND any job cross-trained in.

No need for additional staff or disruptions to scheduled work – this training infrastructure “structures the unstructured, informal and ad hoc training activities already underway to made it deliberate, documented, easy to measure and easy to continual improve.” The existing informal on-the-job trainers are trained and certified to continue doing what they were doing but with structure and documentation.

The Certificate of Job Mastery Program™ and Certificate of Task Mastery Program™ (reached 50% mark): Structured on-the-job training leads to a “Certificate of Job Mastery,” documenting: 1) that each worker has demonstrated competency of the required core skills and abilities through documented mastery performance of the tasks that require them; and that 2) the worker further demonstrated mastery and correct, consistent performance of all employer-specific tasks required of the trainee’s job classification. Records are collected, reported and archived to recognize each individual’s increasing worker value and capacity – summarized with a Certificate Portfolio at milestones.
